In October 2023, Abayneh Asrat joined the Global WASH Cluster FST as WASH Cluster Coordinator, seconded to UNICEF by Action Contre la Faim France. Previously, Abayneh worked with UNICEF as the Sub-national Cluster coordinator in Somalia, seconded by the Swedish Civil Contingency Agency (MSB). Throughout his 17-year career, Abayneh has had the opportunity to work with renowned organizations such as UNICEF, OXFAM, CRS, CARE, People In Need, and GOAL in various countries, including Somalia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, South Sudan, and Ethiopia. His work mainly focused on managing humanitarian WASH programs and coordination roles.

Abayneh holds a Master's degree in Disaster Risk Management, a Bachelor of Science in Rural Development and Family Science, and a diploma in Environmental Health.
